Fibre Optic Networks

Fibre Optics

Infosec Data Systems Ltd is the ideal choice of company for the completion of any fibre project.

We are able to draw on the expertise and experience of our specialist engineers and of our partners to design, install, test and certify the whole contract, as well as to provide a continued maintenance plan.

We offer a complete line of fibre cabling systems, including single-mode & multimode fibre optic connector termination systems.

Typical fibre optic installation sites include schools, colleges, hospitals, industrial sites, offices, and may other venues in the private, corporate and public sector.

Optical Time Domain Reflectometer (OTDR) Testing

In order to certify our installations, every cable undergoes extensive testing to comply with the regulations on the cabling standard being installed. This enables us to issue a certified 25 year manufacturer’s warranty, and also allows for the most seamless integration of the active equipment at the end of a project.

As part of our installation package, network diagnostics & fault finding are carried out using an OTDR tester to assure our customers of the quality of their installation. The client will be presented with a CD-ROM of all readings for future reference, as well as a copy of the as built drawings identifying the locations of all cables throughout the build.

We are also able to offer the 24 hour hire of an engineer and test equipment anywhere within the UK for certification, fault finding and maintenance of any existing installations.

Fibre to the Desktop (FTTD)

With the aim to future proof a building and to avoid expensive copper cabling, fibre to the desk is becoming more popular. FTTD involves running fibre cables instead of copper to all outlets and installing media converters to the end, converting light signals back to electrical signals and presenting the user with what looks like and acts like an ordinary copper data socket. Instead of having to rewire a whole building to keep up with current technology standards and speeds, only the active equipment at the end of the fibre need be changed. Fibre also has the added advantage of higher speeds, with longer cable lengths possible and additional security over its copper alternative certified. Further advantages of fibre optic systems include high bandwidth capability for voice, data and video.
